Cathlyn Driscoll, Artist/Illustrator (Nickname: Happigal)
Alcohol Inks, Watercolors, Acrylic, Digital Art Hello! Many thanks for popping by my art website! I hope you take some time to explore.I just love alcohol ink paintings and love teaching it as well. I love other art mediums too, but find alcohol inks sing to my soul. If you have found me we are kindred spirits! This is the official home of Happigal Art. Details: My background includes being an award winning web/graphic/multimedia designer, adjunct professor, associate art director, videotape operator and photographer. I have a B.A. in Theater (Television Production)from Rutgers University, and an Associate’s of Applied Science in Graphic Design from Sussex County Community College in New Jersey. I am a volunteer graphic designer for the Alcohol Ink Art Community on Facebook. Influences: JM Turner, Marc Rothko, Pablo Picasso, Frederick Franck, and Peter Max. Of Interest: I have the good fortune to be on the board of directors of the Pacem in Terris Museum in Warwick N.Y. The late Frederick Franck, was the creator of Pacem in Terris, and a friend of mine. Frederick had worked along side Nobel Peace Prize winner, Dr. Albert Schweitzer, in Lambaréné, French Equatorial Africa. ‘Pacem in Terris’ means “Peace on Earth” - Frederick’s Pacem, is an outdoor sculpture garden, and spiritual sanctuary in upstate New York. Jersey Girl: YEP Family: I am grateful for my husband, our two sons, Christian & David, and daughter-in-law, Jennifer. I am also indebted to my siblings, Tim & Judi, extended family and friends. CathlyndHappigal - What is up with that name? I named my car "Happigal" after an image I created decades ago. The image is an ever smiling 'happy' gal. The name is indicative of my attitude towards life. Put your best self forward, smile, carry on, let go and move on. When younger, I struggled a bit with depression and sadness. I was fortunate that it was not chemical but mindful. So I changed my mind. I changed how I looked at myself and the world. I became insanely grateful for everything and everyone I had in my life. Grateful for even the negatives, for they taught me a great deal too. I prefer to be: Happigal. |
